11th February 2026 – (Hong Kong) A major charitable foundation and Hong Kong’s premier theme park have joined forces for the third consecutive year to offer thousands of foreign domestic helpers a day of respite and entertainment. The Li Ka Shing Foundation and Hong Kong Disneyland will provide complimentary visits for 5,000 helpers this spring, significantly expanding the scale and scope of the annual initiative.
The 2026 programme marks a substantial broadening of its reach. The number of beneficiaries has been increased from 4,000 participants last year to 5,000. More notably, the invitation has been explicitly extended beyond the Filipino community to include domestic helpers from Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Thailand, reflecting a more inclusive approach to Hong Kong’s diverse migrant worker population.
To ensure a comprehensive and carefree experience, each selected participant will receive a full package of support. This includes a one-day park admission ticket, meal vouchers covering two full meals and a special snack, and a pre-loaded Octopus card to cover transportation costs to and from the resort. The total value of the package exceeds one thousand Hong Kong dollars per person.
The logistical coordination for recruiting and organising participants will be managed through a partnership with three non-governmental organisations: the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union, Bethune House, and Christian Action. These groups will help facilitate the application and selection process for the two designated visit days, which are scheduled for March 29 and April 12, 2026.
The initiative is framed as a direct gesture of gratitude for the contributions made by foreign domestic helpers to Hong Kong’s social fabric and family life. Organisers describe it as a “surprise gift” intended to offer a joyful break from their demanding work schedules and to acknowledge their integral role in the community. This continued collaboration underscores a commitment to providing tangible recognition and a memorable experience for a workforce that is essential to countless households across the city.
